Newsletter April 2024
On television
The progress we are making in the breeding of eel larvae is starting to get noticed. Next Thursday, April 11, Glasaal Volendam will be featured in NTR's science program Focus (NPO2, 20:55 hours). The program will be presented by Petra Grijzen.
The program addresses the question: how do we ensure that everyone worldwide can eat enough fish even in 2050? Aquaculture can be a solution, but that process must be as sustainable and animal-friendly as possible. That is what we are working on at Glasaal Volendam BV. By participating in this program, we want to get the message across how important eel farming is and how far we are already in closing the cycle. More information about the program can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eH3vyPyN.
Three more activities from the past quarter.
- Nico van Straalen hosted a group of 30 students from Chateau-Chinon, Morvan. France-rich. They were students of Aquaculture and Tourism. The group was very interested to hear how we are trying to solve the mystery of the eel. They also visited Smit Bokkum. There appears to be a great demand for public lectures about the eel, something that Glasaal Volendam BV may be able to capitalize on.
- On March 11, a strategy group led by Cees Zwarthoed set to work to create a plan for scaling up, which we expect to enter at the end of 2026. What is involved, biologically, structurally and financially? The group drew up an in-principle outline for a new business plan, which needs to be fleshed out. A first draft of this plan will be presented at the Annual General Meeting this June.
- The Management Board and Supervisory Board are in talks with a large international party that wants to invest a considerable amount of money in Glasaal Volendam BV. With this investment, the liquidity of our company for the next 3 years is assured and with it the chance of returns for all shareholders. At the moment the agreement is not yet finalized. You will be further informed in the next newsletter.
