Eel is deeply rooted in Dutch culture and especially in Volendam. Traditionally, smoked eel has been one of the specialties of Dutch cuisine. With the decline of wild eel stocks, eel as part of Dutch culture is also in danger. We want to prevent that! The tradition of eating eel and eel as a delicacy fish are an important motivation for the enterprise of Glasaal Volendam BV. That is why we get a lot of support from the region (Volendam, West-Friesland, Waterland).
